Earlier this month, there were concerns over whether Atletico Madrid’s quarter-final tie with Barcelona in this competition would go ahead, after four new positive tests among the Atleti squad and coaching staff were announced just 10 days before the game.

The Spanish club, who had to cancel a friendly match just the week before due to another positive test, suspended all training as a result.

Atleti returned to training six days later, just four days before that clash with Barcelona, which they narrowly lost 1-0 after an 80th-minute goal from Kheira Hamraoui.

The winner of Wednesday’s semi-final between PSG and Lyon will secure a place in the final alongside Wolfsburg, who beat Barca 1-0 on Tuesday evening.
